The residents here proudly boast, "Beautiful British Columbia" on their license plates. There is good reason for that. I'm amazed at the beauty of all the places we have visited in Canada. We love listening the people say phrases like, "It's hot today, eh?" and "Thanks, eh!" We've gotten pretty good at converting Celsius to Fahrenheit, kilometers to miles, liters to gallons, and meters to feet. We have not been good at converting Canadian $$ t0 US $$ and I'm sure have not saved money because everywhere we go, we can use American dollars to purchase Canadian things, at Canadian prices. It's funny, even though we're just across the US border, it's foreign enough to feel far from "home." In some ways, we're looking forward to crossing back over the border...we need to go to Trader Joe's!
A funny tidbit-It took us about an hour to wait in line to be drilled by the border patrol and let back into the US. So, at the Canadian/US border, there were three men selling ice cream to all of the people waiting to cross over to the US! Since it was a million degrees outside and we had Canadian money left over, we spent $8.00 on 4 fudgecicles that would cost about $4.00 for a box of 12...at least it occupied the kids and my husband for a while during the wait!
