At the top

We have a tradition of going to the tippy-top of Mammoth Mountain and taking a family picture since Anna and Ryan's first trip up to the mountain. We missed 2007 because Sara was itty-bitty and Anna was very sick (she's very sensitive to the altitude). We missed 2009 because we were on our Northwest vacation and did not make it to Mammoth, and we missed this year because it was just too too cold (42 degrees) and windy (35-45 mph) to make the short hike up to the tippy-top. This year, we made it to the top of the mountain, but not to the tippy-top. Rich was not feeling well and Sara was just plain freezing. So, we had to settle for a family picture at the top of the mountain where the ski/bike trails begin. I was somewhat disappointed, but really, it was just too cold and windy to have the kids outside to make the little trek.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch (11,000 feet up makes the food taste really good!) and lovely views from the protection of chalet and then headed back down so Rich and Ryan could go mountain biking.

You just can't see how very cold and windy it was!
