This little light of mine

I was taking the trash out the other day, and I was completely humbled when I saw this.

Here, under this clay pot, in all of the darkness, beside the trash cans on the side of my house, was a life that that could not be hidden. It couldn't be kept in the darkness. The tiny bit of light coming in through the hole drew it out from darkness and into the light. Many metaphors are swirling around in my head, but I'll just comment on my own life: It is my prayer that in spite of my human-ness and sinfulness, my Father's light can shine through to create in me something beautiful. Not because of anything that I have done, but because of who He is. It is his plan for me. It's his plan for everyone. I've made a choice to be a vessel through which His light can shine. In spite of me.

Remember, our Message is not about ourselves; we're proclaiming Jesus Christ, the Master. All we are is messengers, errand runners from Jesus for you. It started when God said, "Light up the darkness!" and our lives filled up with light as we saw and understood God in the face of Christ, all bright and beautiful. If you only look at us, you might well miss the brightness. We carry this precious Message around in the unadorned clay pots of our ordinary lives. That's to prevent anyone from confusing God's incomparable power with us. Corinthians 4:5-7 The Message

For in him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Colossian's 1:16, 17 NIV

Father, I will praise You alone.
