Today was just another day at the beach...except it's JANUARY! The weather has been in the mid-80's all week, so we thought we'd spend some time in the sun. The kids had a blast. Sara is in love with the ocean-she has to be watched so closely because she just runs right into the ocean, squealing with delight! A pod of dolphins swam by, which is not unusual, but always fun to watch. Ryan spent most of the time building sand castles and fetching his tennis ball. Anna spent most of her time building a "pool" for Sara, and Sara spent most of her time inhabiting the "pool" and running straight for the waves! Having a beach day in January made it an extra special day.
Yesterday was also a beautiful day, so we walked a trail along the ocean bluff. It's the season that the whales migrate south, so lots of people were out walking and whale-watching. We actually saw about 3 or 4 whales, but they were so far away, that we only were able to see them blow air out of their blow holes. It was still really exciting...for most of us anyway-Ryan HATES hiking and thinks animals are boring, so he was glad when the whole thing was done. I couldn't stop thinking about how we were so surrounded by God's creation and glory. Everywhere we looked, there it was. He is so good.
