Our days are pretty routine, in general. But today we had a very different experience as a family than we usually do. After breakfast, we headed to downtown L. A. to the Walt Disney Concert Hall. We had the opportunity to watch the L.A. Philharmonic Symphony along with John Beasley and his Jazz band. I could have stayed and listened all day and it was a great experience for the kids. After the Concert Hall, we drove about 10 blocks to the Staples Center and watched the Kings play hockey. It was the first professional sport that I had ever seen in person; it took me a while to get used to watching it without hearing any commentary! Rich loved being there and so did the kids...and it was nice that the Kings won! After the game, we called in a pizza order, drug ourselves into the house, lit the fire, and are currently enjoying a relaxing evening together.
By the way, Sara is a huge hockey fan now. She loved watching "the guys fall down." She also loved the lion mascot and the smell of the Staples Center. She wants to know when we will go back!
Today I am humbled and so thankful for the generosity of others. So often when we give, we don't realize the impact of the blessing we have on other people. We wonder if it really even makes a difference. It does. Our day was filled with much fun and joy because someone gave. Today I have been reminded to be a joyful giver, not just a giver. Because it does make a difference.
