A monumental first

Rich and I did something very monumental recently-we left town for a few days without any children.  It was the first time, though long overdue.  Over a month ago, Rich surprised with me Steven Curtis Chapman tickets for his show...in Napa Valley!  We had a amazing trip.  We were able to talk without being interrupted.  We were able sit in the car in silence.  The highlight up the 5 was a stop at Harris Ranch for dinner- yummy! After the long drive, we rested for a bit then walked around the quaint little town.  Here's what downtown Napa looks like at night.

The following day we hung around town and did our favorite things:  coffee and muffins at a quant little coffee shop, a long walk around town.

We ate lunch at Whole Foods and spent a long while at the local bookstore not reading books about trains or characters who like to play in their backyard.  After the bookstore, Rich took an afternoon nap and I edited photos, then we went to dinner and the show.

When we've seen SCC in the past, it has been quite the production.  In fact, last time we watched him, he was touring with Michael W. Smith.  When we watched him this particular evening, it was just him and his guitars.   A quaint evening with Steven Curtis Chapman in a quaint theatre in a quaint little town.  We were sitting in the second row,  just off center.  It was perfect.  I asked if cameras were aloud, and they said yes, as long as there was no flash.  Excitedly, I ran to get my camera and took a few shots to get ready.

Shortly after this shot, one of the event staff kindly notified me that no "professional" cameras were aloud.  I tried explain to her that one of the other staff members said I could take pictures, but she was adamant.  So, I had to settle for the camera on my phone.

These were taken at the end of the concert.  After he played his songs on his guitar, he came back out and we all sang several praise and worship songs.  He's singing "How Great is our God" in these photos.

Early the next morning, we left to come home.  We decided to drive along the coast for a while, which made for a longer drive, but the scenery was beautiful.  We stopped in Half Moon Bay for some coffee/tea and then we stopped in San Luis Obispo for lunch.  We were back home in the early evening and very happy to see the kids (who stayed with Rich's parents).  This morning, we sat around the table sipping coffee/tea and watching the kids color easter eggs.  It's great to be all together again!
