Anna, Sara, and I went down to San Clemente to volunteer for Earth Day. We had a great time planting plants and learning about butterfly migration. Playing with the butterflies was the highlight of the day. Sara was very serious about the butterfly on her shirt-which stayed there for about 10 minutes until we asked someone to take it off. She was thrilled that the butterfly loved her shirt (especially since she didn't want to wear that shirt in the first place, but I made her...now it's her favorite one!) Anna of course who loves all living things (except spiders) was in heaven hanging in the butterfly tent! After the planting and playing with butterflies, we walked down to the beach to play for a while. The weather was perfect, the water was perfect, the day was perfect. They both had great experiences learning about our great Earth in a very tangible way. Unfortunately, Ryan wasn't able to come with us because his allergies/asthma was pretty bad, so he and Rich stayed home.
