Our Mammoth trip this year was another success. We managed to travel there, all around, and back home with no accidents or injuries. The interesting thing about camping this year was that we were the only family tent camping in the entire campsite! There were a few families in the cabins and another few in campers, but for the most part, the campsite was empty. We went later this year than usual and many school district were already back in session, so we had the run of the place! It was lovely being a loud-or as quiet-as we wanted.
The weather was quite chilly during the day, but not too bad at night...probably because there's 5 of us now in the tent...and no one is getting any smaller. The kids spent most of the morning and every evening building and sustaining the fire. I can still smell the smoke...
This was the first year that we didn't see any bears. On the last day we were there, Anna spontaneously went behind the tent went Rich was waking from a nap and pretended to be a bear—she got him! Rich quickly opened the tent window to peek outside-so cute! Thank goodness I had my camera handy to capture the photo. The funniest part about it for me was that Anna stormed off in anger (I can't even remember why) a few minutes before. Teasing her dad quickly changed her sour mood!
